Advanced Care Treatment Options Benefit You
Male Reconstructive Surgery Improving Men's Quality of Life
If you live with urethral stricture disease or incontinence after prostate cancer treatment and erectile dysfunction, reconstructive surgery can correct the symptoms of these conditions. Dr. Ramiro J. Madden-Fuentes is one of a few urologists in New Hampshire performing urethroplasty, a urethral reconstruction procedure now recommended as the primary definitive treatment for urethral stricture disease. The procedure involves removing the diseased area of the urethra and using healthy tissue to reconnect the undamaged area. Learn More
Artificial Urinary Sphincter Addresses Incontinence after Prostate Surgery
When you have an artificial urinary sphincter implanted, you can control urination by pressing on a small implanted pump, deflating a cuff around the urethra — the tube that drains the bladder — and permitting urine to flow. The cuff re-inflates, blocking urination until you again signals it to deflate.
Urethral Sling Surgery for Treating Stress Incontinence
If actions like sneezing, coughing or lifting put pressure on your bladder and cause leakage, urethral sling surgery is an option. A ‘sling’ made of synthetic mesh, human tissue or sometimes animal tissue lifts and supports the urethra and helps keep it closed to help prevent leaks.
Minimally Invasive Treatment for Enlarged Prostate
If you're a man with an enlarged prostate, Greenlight™Laser Therapy is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure that restores urine flow by vaporizing prostate tissue and sealing the wound. The treatment delivers relief while decreasing the risk of surgery, recovery from a hospital stay or the side effects and expense of medication. You can usually go home within a couple of hours. UroLift® System for Treating Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia Symptoms
The UroLift® System offers an alternative to medication therapy for treating bothersome urinary symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This minimally invasive procedure utilizes tiny implants to lift and hold the enlarged prostate tissue out of the way so it no longer blocks the urethra. The procedure preserves the ejaculatory function and doesn't impact sexual function.

In addition to its office on Concord Hospital’s campus, the Institute’s board-certified urologists practice in New London, Plymouth, and Wolfeboro, making it convenient for you to be seen close to home no matter where you live in Central New Hampshire.
