Orthopaedic Care Team
Board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeons on our medical staff are experts in the evaluation, treatment, and management of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions. Additionally, our patient care staff is specially trained and many of our National Association for Orthopaedic Nursing recognized orthopaedic nurses are board-certified by the Orthopaedic Nurses Certification Board. Together with patient care staff, they attend to you and your family's specific needs — before, during and after your orthopaedic surgery at The Orthopaedic Institute. We take pride in our experienced staff working as part of the patient care team throughout The Orthopaedic Institute.
Surgical Liaisons Keeping Your Family Informed
While you're in the operating room, your family and loved ones receive periodic updates on your surgery from our surgical liaisons. Our liaisons also provide your family with a post-operative report from your surgeon and accompany one of your family members to visit you in the recovery room.
Care Management Helping You Transition Home
Ensuring your smooth transition home is the goal of our care management team. To ensure your transition home is manageable a member of our care management team completes a comprehensive assessment and interview with you and/or your family, identifying potential barriers to a safe home discharge and obtaining your plans for discharge. Social workers and registered nurse care managers work with your physician, nurses and rehabilitation therapists to develop a plan for your discharge that maximizes your recovery. Your discharge plan may include returning home with the support of visiting nurse services or a rehabilitation stay. Nurse care managers also assist in obtaining needed durable medical equipment to aide in maximizing your functional, mobility and safety.
