Advanced Endocrinology Treatment Options Benefit You
Insulin Pump Therapy
If you're diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes, you may be a candidate for an insulin pump therapy — a procedure that delivers insulin continuously under the skin based on your needs.
A Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) may be used together with this procedure to help monitor the daily patterns of blood sugar, which may help to adjust the pump settings.
Pump therapy/CGM may be a good option if you:
- Experience multiple hypoglycemia events;
- Want better control of your diabetes;
- Have not achieved the recommended A1C level.
Osteoporosis Treatment
This treatment option is for you if you're diagnosed with osteoporosis and require intravascular or subcutaneous injections.
This treatment may be a good option if you:
- Experienced hip fracture;
- Need an alternative to oral treatments to stabilize your bone mass;
- Have a family history of hip fractures.
Male Hormone (Testosterone) Replacement Therapy
Testosterone replacement therapy might be initiated by your endocrinologist following a hypogonadism diagnosis to restore your hormone balance. The advantages and disadvantages of the treatment should be analyzed prior to initiation of the therapy.
Fine Needle Aspiration of Thyroid Nodules
Thyroid nodule fine needle aspiration (FNA) is a procedure to determine whether the growth in your thyroid gland is benign or malignant. It’s necessary when there is an enlargement of the thyroid gland. Ultrasound and fine needle aspirations improve diagnosis and eliminate the need for surgery in many patients. Dr. Marangoz is one of only a few endocrinologists in the Concord area with specialized training to perform thyroid FNA. He performs the procedure in the office with the guidance of thyroid ultrasound. It's a relatively pain-free procedure and takes about an hour, so you can get back to your daily routine after this minimally invasive procedure. Also available is a genetic test called the Afirma Gene Expression Classifier by Veracyte. If a biopsy is indeterminate, the Afirma test can identify the nodule as either benign or still suspicious of malignancy.
