Advanced Surgical Options Benefit You

LINX for Treatment of Reflux

LINX is a small device implanted around the esophagus, the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. It enables a valve in the esophagus to open for food to pass to the stomach, then closes it to prevent food, stomach acid, or bile from flowing back up.

The LINX ring is about the size of a quarter. The strength of the magnets holds the ring gently snug around the esophagus to prevent reflux. During swallowing, the beads separate temporarily, opening the valve to the stomach. It is implanted in a minimally invasive procedure that takes approximately an hour, called a Magnetic Sphincter Augmentation. LINX is designed to be a lifelong implant.

The LINX procedure can help anyone who has basic reflux as long as they don’t also suffer from other dysfunction of the esophagus and don’t have a large stomach hernia.

Robotic Hernia Repair

Hernias are weaknesses or openings in the muscle wall of the abdomen. They are caused by a variety of factors, including chronic lifting, obesity, straining, chronic cough, and family history. Patients suffering from hernias are benefitting from our expert surgeons, aided by the da Vinci Xi Robotic-Assisted Surgical System. Robotic-assisted hernia repair can offer a more permanent repair, with less pain, less chance of complications, more rapid recovery, and less chance of recurrence.
