Patient Testimonial | Sharon Wallace
Concord Hospital Primary Care - New London
One day after her June 2023 discharge from Concord Hospital, where she’d been receiving intravenous treatment for asthma, Sharron Wallace was pleasantly surprised when her new primary care office reached out to her.
The offer of a follow-up appointment with Dr. Adrienne Gerhart, a family practitioner at Concord Hospital Primary Care - New London, was unexpected because Wallace had only filled out preliminary paperwork to become a patient of the practice.
“I told them I hadn’t even established myself as a patient with Dr. Gerhart, but she heard I’d been admitted to the hospital and wanted to see me,” said Wallace. “I was impressed. What doctor does that?”
Wallace had begun searching for a new primary care provider after her physician left her previous practice. For many years, Wallace checked credentials for a large hospital in Florida, so the now-retired 69-year-old had a good idea of what she was looking for. As a longtime sufferer of asthma, Wallace had for a decade received excellent care from her pulmonologist, Dr. Martin Black of Concord Hospital Medical Group. When she learned Concord Hospital was opening a primary care office in New London, about 25 miles from her home in Lempster, she already had positive associations with the Hospital.
“These doctors really understand rural medicine,” Wallace says. “Dr. Gerhart is interested in me, how I’m feeling, and my comfort with managing my disease. The people in her office provide empathy and sympathy, and the care is personalized. It’s made a big difference.”
