Dr. Veronica Triaca of Concord Hospital Urologic Institute Receives Bulkamid® Center of Excellence
Concord Hospital Health System is proud to announce that Dr. Veronica Triaca, associate medical director for urology, was named a Center of Excellence by Axonics for Bulkamid®. This newer FDA-approved treatment option is a minimally invasive, long-lasting treatment option for bladder leaks caused by stress urinary incontinence (SUI).
Bladder leakage affects one in three women, often developing during or after pregnancy or as women age. SUI occurs when weakness in the pelvic floor prevents the urethra from fully closing, allowing urine to leak during everyday activities, such as coughing, laughing, exercising, or lifting objects. This condition can significantly impact the quality of life.
This is a tremendous achievement for Dr. Triaca,” said Dr. Bill Santis, associate chief clinical offer with the Urologic Institute. “The designation highlights her exceptional skill, outstanding patient outcomes, and impressive volume of procedures she’s performed. Her unwavering dedication to enhancing the patient experience is truly remarkable.”
About Bulkamid®
Bulkamid® is a soft, water-based gel injected into the urethral wall through a series of small injections. The gel adds volume to the urethra, improving its ability to close and control urine flow. Similar to facial fillers, Bulkamid® remains in the body over time without causing reactions, offering durable, long-lasting relief.
Key Benefits of Bulkamid®
Safe and effective: In a clinical study, 92 percent of women reported improvement or were cured.
Quick procedure: A series of three to four small injections, completed in just 10–15 minutes.
Long-lasting results: Proven to provide relief for up to seven years.
Preferred choice: Most women with SUI chose Bulkamid® over surgical options in a 2020 clinical study.
