Dr. Robert Thomson Honored with Outstanding Clinician Award

Concord Hospital is proud to announce that Dr. Robert Thomson with GI Associates - Concord Gastroenterology received the inaugural Dr. Samuel Somers Outstanding Clinician Award at a special reception. The award was given in honor of the late Dr. Samuel Somers — a gastroenterologist and beloved colleague — who unexpectedly passed away in February 2023.
Dr. Thomson earned this prestigious honor for his unwavering commitment to providing expert, compassionate care to his patients, one of many outstanding qualities exhibited by Dr. Samuel Somers when caring for his patients.
This is an exceptional honor for Dr. Thomson,” said Dr. Christopher Allen, immediate past medical staff president at Concord Hospital. “It gives me great pleasure to recognize him with this award to remember Dr. Samuel Somers for his dedication to caring for patients during a career spanning over two decades. He was a cherished colleague who provided comfort to so many with his gentle nature.”
Diane Hotten-Somers, Dr. Samuel Somers’ wife, attended the event and shared are few comments about the relationship her late husband had with Dr. Thomson. “They were not just practice partners; they also had a simpatico dedication to and craft of practicing gastroenterology medicine. Much of Sam’s craft came from working with Dr. Thomson on how to provide the highest, most compassionate level of patient care.
Dr. Thomson joined Concord Hospital Medical Group in 2000. He is a graduate of Rush Medical College of Rush University based in Chicago, Ill. He completed his residency and fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine. GI Associates Concord Gastroenterology provides expert care and treatment for gastrointestinal conditions. The team of board-certified gastroenterologists assists patients with diagnosing and developing a treatment plan to meet their goals for improved gastrointestinal health. The office is located at CH Medical Offices at Horseshoe Pond, 60 Commercial Street, Suite 404, in Concord.
