Concord Hospital Health System to Conduct Armed Intruder Drill on August 21
Concord Hospital Health System is partnering with the NH Department of Safety's Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Laconia Police and Fire Departments, and the Belknap County Sheriff’s Department to conduct an exercise that will simulate an armed intruder at a hospital. The drill will take place on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, beginning at 10:00 am at the hospital’s Laconia campus.
The planned drill is designed to allow Concord Hospital’s security team and medical staff to test their ability to collaborate and quickly devise a coordinated response to test safety protocols.
Members of the media are welcome to observe the drill. Please contact Dawn Beers, public affairs manager, at (603) 227-7000, ext. 4215, to RSVP. Also, please note that if you receive calls to alert you of a police presence at Concord Hospital in Franklin, it is because of this drill.
Throughout the drill, observers will see Concord Hospital security officers and medical personnel in uniform. Onlookers may hear sirens and other loud noises. Most of the exercise will take place outside the hospital’s emergency department.
